33rd Annual National Convention
will be held in
WIldwood, New Jersey
September 26th - October 1st

Hello AKA Members! With a month left until convention; it’s time to think about packing! No, not your clothes– what kind of kites and kite paraphernalia do you need to bring?

We’ve got the answers for you and they are all listed in the Convention Onsite Program which is posted on the AKA website at http://aka.kite.org/resources/publications/doc_download/397-2011-convention-schedule

And though there can always be changes due to weather and/or individual schedules, the program lists the events, dates, times, locations and details about all the convention programs.

The table schedules on pages 3-6 give you a quick snapshot of the week’s events, but look closer for program details.

Workshops are alphabetical from page 9-12, Competitions from 14-17, and then we get to the REALLY fun stuff! There are more challenges this year than any other AKA in history; check out pages 20 & 21 to see what you need to bring to take them on! You may want to pack a kite you made for participation in the Art Gallery in the Sky or a white kite for the Angel Fly. Marla has again thrown down the “fun gauntlet” so get your kite hat, tie and jewelry in that suitcase; see page 20 for details. And did you know the MegaFlag will make a “personal appearance” at the convention, read page 19 for more information.

And don’t forget to visit http://aka.kite.org/events/convention/next-convention for more information on the convention including lodging, parking, driving on the beach, apparel photos and more.

If you haven’t yet registered there is still time – go to https://kite.org/aka/secure/con_reg.php and get signed up, you just need your AKA member number and email address! After September 15th you may still sign up at the AKA registration desk at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

If you have additional questions, feel free to call me at 541-992-3482. We are looking forward to a great party in Wildwood – see you there! Maggie Vohs – Convention Manager
