Still a nice centrally located park that is flyable. There are athletic fields over on the Piedmont Road side but they normally are busy.

Cottage Grove Jr. H.S./Grey Cloud Elem. School/Kingston Park Cottage Grove, MN, US
- Submitted by: Bradley Klages
- The combined athletic fields of Cottage Grove Junior High, Grey Cloud Elementary School and Kingston Park make up one of the largest playfields in the Twin Cities metro area. Several baseball, soccer and football fields make up the athletic complex. There are minimal backfences and trees to deal with. The fields are used by local kite fliers for traction kiting, multi-line and single line flying. There is a small hill about 10-12 feet high at one end of the field that breaks the mostly level playing fields. But it doesn't impede the movement of traction kiters who love to scale it while cruising from one end to the other. Our recommended day to fly is on Sundays when there's a breeze. (Saturday's are for school sports. Sundays are for kite flying.)
- Single Line Kites, Sport Kites, and Kite Buggying are allowed and appropriate.
- Directions: From I-94 in Woodbury, exit at Keats Avenue (Co. Rd. 19) and go south approx. 7 1/2 miles to Indian Blvd. Turn right at Indian Blvd. and go west approx. 1/4 mile to second parking lot at Grey Cloud Elementary School on the south side of the street.

- Submitted by: Jim Martin
- Home field of the WACKOS -- we're usually there 1st and 3rd Sat. each month, unless weather or travel to fests get in the way. Large, open feild, slopes away to the SW. Rare large open field for these parts... Park has banned buggying, and asks kiters not to do stupid things like buzz the kids on the playground...
- Single Line Kites and Sport Kites are allowed and appropriate.
- Directions: Map and directions at www.wackos.org. If you're coming from Charlotte, take Highway 49 past UNC-Charlotte and through Harrisburg. About 3 miles East of Harrisburg, look for a concrete pipe foundry on the right at a traffic signal and railroad crossing. The first or second street on the left past the foundry is Stough Road. Turn left, go about a mile and the Park entrance is on the right. If you're coming from I-85: Take I-85 to Speedway Blvd (Exit 49), go right at the light. Speedway Blvd ends at the Speedway, naturally, and Highway 29. Turn left at the light. The next stoplight is Pitts School Road. About another 1/2 mile past Pitts School Rd., on the right, is Roberta Church Rd. - there should be a brown sign for Franke Liske Park pointing to the right. Take Roberta Church Rd until it ends at Roberta Rd., turn right. The next street on the left (about 50 yards) is Stough Rd., turn left. Frank Liske Park is almost at the crest of the hill on the left.

- This has to be one of my all time favaorite flying locations in the world. Clean clear wind, the beach, not many people. Now it could be I'm so fond of it as my in-laws had a place just up the beach in Brigadune (alas, not for many years now) from it and it was a easy walk, so I used it extensively, but during the summer in seems very few people venture to the other side of the creek to sun bathe so you never have any problems flying sport kites. Always plenty of room. Great place to bring a cooler along also. '-)
- Single Line Kites, Sport Kites, and Kite Surfing are allowed and appropriate.
- Directions: If your a member, park at the Dunes Club. Or, maybe you can find a construction site by the entrance to the club. If not, get ready to walk. Head south from The Dunes Beach Club/Resort hotel at the end of Shore Drive. Cross over the marsh drainage creek and you are there.
