Gomberg Kite Productions and Northwest Winds Kite Stores was named tonight as Lincoln City's 2012 Business of the Year.

This honor came as a surprise to David and Susan since one other nominee was Chinook Winds Casino/Resort -- the largest employer in town.

The Gomberg nomination cited their efforts to organize weekly kite shows on the beach all summer, their long involvement with local festivals, tourism, and community events, and their effort to address proposed restrictions on local beach use by State Parks.

Susan Gomberg accepted the award as David was in France chairing the World Sport Kite Championships. "We're very honored" she said. "We're not a large business but a growing one. We're putting people to work. And we believe our beach programs help support all businesses in town and send a message that Lincoln City is a fun and interesting place to visit."

David added from France, that they really wanted to thank all the kiters who came to LC over the summer to be part of their local shows.
