Empty Space in the Sky "Jim Strealy / OzoneJim"
Sad news, California Kite Flyer Jim Strealy, also known as OzoneJim, passed away Friday. He was flying kites at Yosemite National Park, when he accidentally fell off into the cold water. He wasn't found for 30 minutes, but was revived. Unfortunately he later died at the hospital. Jim I will miss your daily e-mails, conversations, and humor. RIP my friend!

Re: Empty Space in the Sky "Jim Strealy / OzoneJim"
Clearly a very sad loss.
Strangely, in conversation with my sister a couple of days ago, I told her it was my wish to visit Yosemite (and a few other U.S. locations) before I die and, if possible, to fly kites there. This accident to a namesake has not put me off, and I shall still try to achieve my aim. And to die flying a kite is probably the way I would choose to go!

The kite community lost a great friend. I will remember his smile and good humor and his fantastic energy at the kite gigs at the Point Arena Lighthouse. What a good guy. Jim, you will be missed.

Re: Empty Space in the Sky "Jim Strealy / OzoneJim"
I've been trying to get more info about Jim's accident, because I don't want to spread misinformation. At this point, I'm not certain it was a kiteflying accident. He was also involved in a sailing club on Lake Yosemite, and that may or may not be involved. Bottom line, we don't know what happened, other than we've lost a good kiter.
