Hey I am wondering where a guy from Long Island can go to do some kiting. I know i can go to Field 6 at Jones Beach but there is never anyone else there that I see. Anywhere i can meet up with some like minded people looking to hang out and have some fun. I posted this in Region 1 last year and there was no one on the island to hang with but maybe someone near by in this one.

Just found this on our AKA Facebook page by clicking on the name,
http://www.facebook.com/DansKiteFly I don't know if you have Facebook, (just use a Fake name if you worry about privacy) apparently this kite festival already took place last weekend.
Another suggestion is, Start your own kite club, Just start off by creating a Facebook page, or other social media but FB works best, since everyone is on it and nowhere else these days. You can post it here also. Let everyone know you will be at a certain park, beach or whatever EVERY First Sunday, Second Saturday, Friday evening, just pick a day and show up there Yourself EVERY time regardless of weather. Fly and anchor a couple single lines, wind permitting and put up banners, etc so that locals can see that kites fly there that day. Eventually other Kiters will show up and fly with you, or you will recruit newbies whom you can refer to us and we will set them up with info.

Dear Long Island Kite Flyer!
I fly at Jones Beach field 6 myself but havent seen many other fliers there. I live in the bronx but mostly fly at Coney Island & Far Rockaway Queens Beaches with a few folks. We dont have a kite club but just get together. We are all partisipating in the Coney Island Kite Fesitival on Sept 8th & 9th. Come down and fly with us I'll indroduce you to fellow flyers.

I was not able to get up to NY for the Coney Island Kite Festival but I hope that you got a group together. Always good to see kiters coming together.
