Ribbon Arch
White Horse Kite Flyers in UK are about to make a ribbon arch based on the George Peters design (35 units 36x28inches). We want to have individuals appliqué each cell with their own design. A number of members have expressed concern about the possibility that the pressure developed in these arches would be too great and blow the appliqué to pieces.
Does any one have any experience or advice?

Re: Ribbon Arch
It's been several years, but our club did much the same. The individual panels survived just fine. The problem area was the ends. Each end needs to be reinforced with dacron. The pull developed where the line attaches is amazing. The leading edge was also reinforced with dacron.
The lift generated also takes a great deal of strength to hold done. It is much great than say an arch of equivalent size. Be careful flying it!

Re: Ribbon Arch
The very famous ribbon arch I remember is the "Disney Caricatures" arch made by Randy Tom. I searched for a picture but can't find one. I do know from watching, the Arch is a bear to fly in moderate winds.
