So, is it intended to be flown, or just listened to?  It didn't inspire me to rush out and buy one...

Not sure.  (And not sure how my post got up there twice.)

Many years ago, AKA Past President and now empty space in the sky Jack Van Gilder called me aside at the Washington State International Kite Festival and excitedly wanted me to see something.  He had a kite flying in some strong winds and the line was very tight.  He had taken a paper cup (a "Dixie" cup), made a cut from halfway across the bottom to an equal distance up the side, and pushed the cup onto his flight line at the slit.  The cup acted as a megaphone and amplified the sound of the wind going across the line.  It was amazing how loud the noise of the wind was.

JVG did not need electronics to enjoy the music of the wind.
