That's a one-of-a-kind Cassagne-style ring made by Pete Dolphin. It won the Member's Choice prize at the AKA convention in Dayton in 2003.

Yes that is Peter's Kite, I've helped him assemble it a couple of times.I doubt he would sell it. He has 3 different crowns.
There was a RWB large Crown entered in competition at the Des Moine AKA convention in 2006. I can't remember the makers name but I remember he machined the special fittings from oak. The center sail was red and white stripes. Hope this helps .

Re: In search of this kite from 2006
That's a really interesting picture. It's actually two (2) of Pete's kites being flown at one time - one inside the other - I haven't seen that before. The larger is the the Freedom Ring. And inside that is the Moon kite.
Here's the moon by itself.
And here's Pete assembling Freedom - for size comparison.
The copy of Pete's Freedom Ring was made by Roy White of Missouri. Unfortunately the only reference to that kite never acknolwedge that it is a copy of Pete's kite, much less acknowleging Andre Cassagnes as the original designer who improved upon Alexander Graham Bell's work.
There was recently a workshop led by Willi Koch in Germany where 28 of these kites were made over 2 weekends. Amazing stuff. A couple sets of pictures.

Unfortunately the fittings necessary to build one of these are not commercially available in the US. For awhile Jimbos Swanson (Swanson Kites) was casting them but no longer. I just bought a set of Jimbo's fittings and am planning on making one of these this winter as it has been on my build list a long time.

In further searching I learned that the RWB crown kite (similar to Peters )I mentioned above was made by Roy White from Mo. . If your an AKA member you can look up his contact information in the membership listing.
