This is a rather specialized topic to deserve its own forum. I will, however, entertain the idea of adding a Kite Accessories forum, where such topics would be entirely appropriate

Night flies require me to take a nap that afternoon before sundown!  I'm against them for this reason alone

Sitemaster, thanks for the consideration. I am surprised that the topic of night flying has not already had a complete discussion. If you would do so, I'd like to see that Kite Accessories area be included in the forum. My observation is that 95% of the interest and exposure goes to the kite itself. 5% goes to lines, tethering, reels, lights and the rest. To me, its like watching a woman play the harp. You think its all in the hands until she shifts her dress and you see her feet working the pedals.

I agree that it is a new use for the kites much in the same way that traction kites are dual line but they dont generally fly Ballet or comps so they have more differences than they are alike. Night kites are all about balancing the weight of the lights and  controllers and the overall show. I have quite a few and they never fail to gather a crowd. From a simple glowstick attached to a wing to my computer controlled 1152 led 20 foot delta they are all different and with a forum we could expand thier use. As for now how about just starting a topic in the single line area and when it grows maybee the sysop can rethink the request.
