Great timing on your post, Capt_Richard!  I had a chance to play with someone else's GoPro over the holidays.  I have to say, I'm really impressed by the little beastie.  I attached one of the stills from this session.

These things will also do a really good job with video, though I haven't had a chance to play around with that yet.  (Without stabilization, kite aerial video tends to make me seasick, even if it's my own footage!)

I need to go to Costco later in the weekend.  I'll be on the lookout to see what their price is.  Thanks for the pointer!

I have two of the stores in town and I noticed that the second one did not carry that item. It could also be that they sold out. I have noticed alot of them being used on TV. The reality shows have several strapped to the participants. I have also seen them on other shows. MTV is a big fan with them showing up on the real world challenge and I also noticed it on Gene Simmons Family Jewels when Shannon was sky diving. Of course on those shows they cut after a few seconds to the other view so I can see how they would be able to pick and choose the place to transition so you dont see the motion.

I hope to get a chance to go by the other store and pick one up if they still have them. I was told to go the extra cost and get the 1080 version but im not sure what they had.

We just got one for work.  Our Costco didn't carry them (likely sold out), B&H was sold out, but we were able to get one straight from GoPro.  I can't wait to give this a try and see what we can see.  The plan is to fly it over one of our buildings to get a top-down view for some aerodynamics tests.  (Yep, I'm getting to do KAP at work.)

We also went for the 1080p version.  There are a couple of versions that don't support the full 1080p HD video.  We're after maximum resolution on this, so the extra pixels are a must.

I'm still blown away that you can get a full HD camera in such a small, inexpensive package.

I have checked several times and the Cosco's dont have them in my area. I assume that the pallet full was the last of them and it was back in December. I got an email from the company today and it announced a new back to put on the camera to allow for a live view and playback. It was less than $100 with the extension cover to seal it up and a couple of mounting options. It seems they just keep getting better and better.

I was in Best Buy and they had GoPro casmeras. This was in the past two weeks.
