Similarly, AirWaves in Cincinnati next weekend (April 9-10) is not on the calendar.  Hmmm......

Is it OK for people who know that such an event exists to put it on the calendar, or is that reserved only for the event organizers?

I would think it's  proper for anyone who knows about a kite activity to inform their Regional Director, The Director knows how to properly announce an event. And that would include listing in the AKA calendar.

The calendar entry form seems to be asking for contact information (as well as description and dates). I only hesitated because I don't think it proper to post someone else's information without authorization. I suspect that the organizers for GH are either the Negen brothers or their store Mackinaw Kite Company.

I have sent an email to David Bush (R5 director).

Still no GH entry. Looks like that's not the answer.

MacKite has an up-to-date page on the festival at http://www.mackite.com/glskc.htm. I've sent them a message via their contact form suggesting that they fill out the form on this sight to add their event to the calendar.

Oh and here's a link to some video I shot of the 2010 Great Lakes Kite Festival. It was the first kite event my wife and I had ever attended. I sure was glad I'd brought a camcorder!
