Another concern is how to transport the finished kite safely. Some use ziplocks with a little air blown inside. Susie had a box to cut out and fold printed on a sheet of cardstock. Another option is small plastic cases. This is one source that I've used: http://www.calendar-case.com/
I prefer cigar boxes. They are of various sizes, very sturdy and can be quite beautiful. I've also used lucite, game card deck boxes (the ones kids buy at gaming stores to put "Magic The Gathering (tm)" decks of cards into). If I am very lucky, I will find a presentation box (with an unengraved plate in the lid) at an estate sale. I can then have the plate engraved for the event it's going to. If you are donating them to kiting events, remember that presentation increases desirability, so if it is going to auction, and I am hand carrying the kite, I will buy a shadowbox for it.

A lively kite steals the sky,
Paradise in a moment.
Re: Miniature kite supplies
I have a few dozen of the old AOL tin boxes left. Years ago AOL sent them with a cd to sign up for thier service and I found them interesting enough to collect even though I had no Idea what I would use them for. Here it is 15 years later and they have changed from junk to good stuff that I hate to throw out. If anyone is interested drop me a note with your address and I will see what the postage will cost to get some to you.. I sent a handfull to susie jo last year and was surprised to find that it cost me about $8.00 for the postage. Depending on how many requests I get I may be able to talk a friend of mine out of the stack that he has sitting in his closet.
( Since they are tin and printed with an aol advertisement and the address they were shipped to its easy to hit them with a coat of spray paint. You could also use a stencil to really dress them up.)

Re: Miniature kite supplies
Wonder if it's also worthwhile mentioning anything "Miniature Kite" on Facebook, if anyone's in a kite group there?
