Another great place to start is with Kites in the Classroom, a collection of simple kites made from materials found easily. The AKA site also has a growing collection of kite plans for many different skill levels. Find that information here: http://aka.kite.org/resources/publicati … 23-manuals

Definitely Kitebuilder.com.  The forums are an absolutely incredible source of information on building kites of all types.  I started there a little over a year ago and it's amazing.  No purchase necessar, but Steve can sell you most any kitebuilding supplies if you are interested.

Kitebuider is really very helpful, I just loved the site it's a nice place for someone to get started kite building.
