The Go Pro folks have been doing a promotion for the past few months that you can get in on. Its called win everything we make and the title says it all. You sign on each day and they pick a name from the previous days entrys. You get the new go pro 2 and all of the mounts that they have in stock on that day.

They now have three cameras. The original is the 960 and its a nice little camera. It is discontinued but you still see some available. For the money I would buy the newer unit.

The Hero is the new 1080 unit and it has several add ons like a screen to be able to view what your filming live or playback and a 2nd battery back along with a soon to be available wifi interface that lets you control the camera with a computer of phone along with live web updates.

The newest Hero 2 goes from 5 to 10 megapixels and uses the same body as above so the same accessories work with both. The older unit is limited on some of the functions.

Another new item is a dual case and controller to allow you to film 3-d . When you sign up for the drawing take a look around their site.

Thier are quite a few similar cameras available and I would suggest that you check them all out before making the purchase. The tripod mount or flat mount can be attached to the cd camera bracket that is discussed in an earlier post for a quick and easy Kap rig. You can set the timer to take your still photos or use it in movie mode while suspended.

Go Pro came out with a new line of cameras just in time for last Christmas. They are smaller and lighter and higher resolution but generally the same. The mounts are all interchangable and best of all the contest is still on. You simply register a maximum of once per day and they pick from the list of todays entries.

The box at the bottom of the form can be unchecked so they will not send you emails if you dont want them. The site has information on the new and old cameras.

If you dont feel like waiting to win a camera of figure you luck will not award you one check out ebay for a deal. The old cameras are being replaced with the newer high resolution models so you can pick one up at a good price. Most of them also include extras like dual battery packs and screens that you can view you video in the field along with numerous mounts.

I was able to pick up a Hero 2 along with several hundred dollars worth of mounts and accessories for less than I paid for the first camera ( naked Hero) at a great sale price.

The 2nd and third generation have the ability to control the camera by using a smart phone. Check out the go pro website for more information and restrictions on features that vary with the camera models.
