Event Calendar on Global Background
Announced today by John Gillespie, the AKA Event Calendar is no longer just tables of dates. NOW it's the world map with all the events represented country by country, and each has a direct link to the festival detils.
Much easier to judge if you can travel or not... just exactly where *IS* New Zealand in relation to California, etc...
Start with this link http://www.aka.kite.org/events/calendar then click ON the US Continent icon. Get your suitcases ready...!

Greetings -
Every once in a while, I will enter some of the events from the kite club newsletters that arrive here at AKA HQ. It helps expand my geographical knowledge trying to find where some of the festivals are being held on the map so I can add the coordinates to the event listing. I am sure I miss the mark now and then. So, if you see that an event you are familiar with is located away from where it should be, please let me know. In my own defense, though, I am not responsible for any kite events that have been located in the middle of bodies of water.

"Like"that last, Mel. A kite festival in the middle of the ocean would certainly be a challenge!

One of my more far-fetched ideas (well, not totally my own) would be to hold the AKA convention on a cruise ship. It'll never happen, but it makes for some nice day dreams.
