As a Kid, I had the "KITE BUG" and NOT just the "Normal like flying kites because of being a kid " like most kids, but what has been my Lifetime passion and Priority!
Having an Original "Old Time Kite Festival" in MY HOMETOWN, the beach community of Ocean Beach, helped fuel that passion!

MARCH 3rd. 2012. GOOD I DON'T THINK IT WILL CONFLICT WITH KITE PARTY (Huntington Beach ) LIKE I THOUGHT!
San Diego Kite Club and Ben, please follow up on this! the OLDEST KITE FESTIVAL on the West Coast that I know of.
We used to help them out every year back in the 70's and 80's as the early San Diego kite club.

We ALWAYS had a Parade going down Newport Ave. four blocks and everyone flew ON THE BEACH when I was a kid and young adult Kiter. The paper only shows them crossing the street from the Rec Center Gym to the elementary school across the street.
I wish I had money to travel back home and help bring this kite festival back to life. Even an Indoor demo would be possible in the Gym. OMG the memories looking at the school and rec center, HATED school but LOVED that festival!
Believe Me it used to be a lot bigger! Well at least they have "Frustrationless " sleds now.
