Empty space in the sky, Minnesota
Empty space in the sky, Minnesota
It is with sadness that I write this post. Last night the medical examiner called to say that JoAnn Weber was found dead of natural causes in her home over the weekend. Our name was on her phone list.
The local authorities need your help in finding a relative and helping with her dogs, all 3 purebred sulukis. If you have any information, please PM me for the contact information.
Her beautiful kites with orginal artwork often inspired by Matisse or Miro will never be forgotten.

I met JoAnn briefly in 2004 at my first International kite event - Fort Worden Kitemakers Retreat. She impressed me with her serenity, talent and her beautiful hair! (We shared a house, and not much else...) Sadly, our paths never crossed again.

Her dogs are going to good homes. Her god-daughter/cousin has been located. Good friends are helping. Details of final gathering later.

And, as usual, I was mistaken.
Our paths crossed again in Des Moines in 2006 - my very first AKA convention.
Joanne bid strongly at the Auction for the Flamenco Dancer feather I had made. Her enthusiasm & excitement when she won it blew me away - and again, I noticed her hair...
Brad Klages has assured me he will re-discover the banner, and display it in Joanne's honour as often as possible.

.
JoAnn was a flamenco dancer and toured with a troupe in her 20's, including several trips to Spain. Later she danced with a group here in Minensota.
