American Kitefliers Association

This is surely not an "either or" situation.  There are many good AKA member dealers who can be contacted by email and by phone.  I have even called some of them from New Zealand and invariably had a friendly response.  Except in the very rare instance that a kite was unobtainable elsewhere, I would be wary of dealing where there was no telephone contact available as back-up to emailing.  Emails can, and do, go astray and can be, and sometimes are, ignored.

Hope things work out for you Forrest - I'm miles away from you (I'm RD for Internationals) but I wonder if you MIGHT get lucky if you personaly contact your Regional Director - yours would be Robin Allen McCracken Region 7, I think? 

Occasionally some of us RDs have closer relationships with others than just a website link or contact form, and one word from one, into the ear of another, might effect a swift, positive solution? 

Just saying - AKA members & RD's can work together in most cases, problem halved and all that?

It would help if I knew WHO the merchant is and WHERE they are located. I don't see any reference to that here nor should you disclose it here but you can email that to me and I can see if there is any thing I can do. I'm on my Droid phone writing this did I miss anything?

Check on the front page of the forum, I believe you can "subscribe" to either some or all of the boards. That would give you email notification of new postings.

Okay, anxieties are way less - got a note not 45 minutes ago, all sorted out
(with having Aspergers and a couple other things, most times I don't do unknowns and anxieties all that well)

Now the wrinkle is that the pattern I want is on backorder. Eh, oh well. Have had to wait on train things from time to time in my 3 decades of doing model trains; and I worked retail for 23 years, some for FW Woolworth and some for hobby shops and do understand how it goes.
