Re: Is anyone alive in Region 2???
So now it's 2013... any one out there this year ? April's just around the corner... what are the big events this year ? Anything at Liberty State park ? NYC area ? I would be happy to help out with a get-together on Long Island, I fly there every Sunday.

Hoping the forums have been calmer and not unpleasant, albeit a little quiet for the last 3-4 months at least?

Re: Is anyone alive in Region 2???
Hi Rob B. You're doing the right thing in searching for other Kiters. Sadly this is a problem everywhere, and more interesting how major population centers are lacking Kite activity of any sort except for an increase in water kiteboarding. Northern California (Bay area) and Southern California are also very slow for such good winds, major population centers, and being so busy with kitefliers and kite stores in years past.
Thanks for joining my "kite" group on Google + and visiting our AKA Facebook page! I spread the word of "Kiteflying" all over the world and this has helped grow a nice little kite club here in Denver.
As people tell me, I also urge you also to "keep up the Passion for kites"!
Brad, JB, everyone, keep encouraging folks like Rob to keep the Faith!
Let's help them help us by steering them in the right direction, keep the information coming. Thank Rob and kiters like him by visiting with them at their local field when you're anywhere in their town.

Re: Is anyone alive in Region 2???
Hey JP, I've been flying on Long Island for ~10 years, and there aren't very many active flyers. I know a handful of people who fly, but not on a regular basis. It's sad, because we've got some of the best wind anywhere, lots of people, but people here are too busy to fly...
I've been putting the kites in the air, hoping it will catch some interest, but sadly, little to none.

Hey Brad...
It would be nice if there was a local Kite Club. Actually, I want to start a club on Long Island, just can't find anyone interested. All the ones you mention are at least 5 hours of driving, and not really practical. I live out on eastern LI, and it takes a couple of hours even to get to Coney Island. I have been there, but never saw anyone else flying. I go to LSP once a year if there's something going on, and I'll be down in Wildwood again this year.
Long Island got pounded pretty hard by the Hurricane, too. I think people's spirits around here were destroyed long before Hurricane Sandy, though.

Hey Robin,
I've even seen a decrease in kite boarding by me. There are still a few active Kite boarders, but where there were 20+ boarders a few years ago, their numbers are down to only a handful, now. Maybe it can be blamed on outside forces like the economy or results of the latest storm... who knows ?
Listen, I'm glad there are at least people on the web that are as enthusiastic about kiting as I am.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the schedule... I can't believe how active the kite community is only a few hours away. I guess I'll be seeing a few of you at Wildwood. Can't wait !
