Re: brown fabric
Thanks Martin,
I don't need any right now but I was checking around to see if there was any available if I did need some. I used all I had last fall. While there does not seem to be any available from the kite supply stores, several people offered me some and others talked about using dye to create my own. It is great to see there is a strong, sharing community of kite makers out there.

Re: brown fabric
For what it's worth, I recently purchased some fabric from a European supplier (Boomboree in France) and it cost me about $30 US (after the Euro conversion) to have it shipped to me, and it took less than a week. I ordered some Chikara, but not Brown (although it was available.) You gotta *really* want it, though, because after all the conversions and shipping, it was darn near $18/yd.
Chikara is a little different than the normal stuff we get from places like Kite Studio (Challenge, Contender, Bainbridge, North, even Dimension) but it's similar enough that you can use it in a blended skin if you want to, at least IMO. The only thing you will notice is a more distinct scrim pattern in the appearance, a helluva lot like Carrington in that regard (if you've seen Carrington)

While shopping in the craft store today, I found a new product. It is called idye Poly by Jacquard. It is dye designed for 100% poly or nylon fabric. Most dyes, like Rit or Dylon are designed by natural fibers and don't work very well on nylon.
I will test this weekend and report back.
What are the results of your test dye?

I just posted a tutorial on KB.com about dyeing rip stop with iDye Poly. Check this link to see it.:

I dyed brown. It works great. I have been doing it for a couple of years.
