A new regional kitemaking retreat is being held in the Des Moines area the first weekend of March. U-MAKE or Upper-Midwest Area Kitemaking Event will be at the West Des Moines Marriott on Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. The retreat will start small with a large sewing project offered, a beginning sewing project, and two different no sew projects. Classes will start late on Friday evening, and conclude Sunday early afternoon. Please watch for further announcements or contact Linda Larkey @ firstname.lastname@example.org
Early registration is closed, but we still have a bit of time for late registration, and three (3) openings left from the original 25....and I booked two extra rooms just in case...... If you are interested in attending, contact us NOW! www.u-make.org or contact Linda Larkey @ airhead @ kc.rr.com
Made it to Des Moines! Had a great start this evening. We began with a short session on useful knots, larkshead, prusik and slip knot with examples of uses for each.Oh, and some decadent chocolate cake, thanks Connie!
Donna Shenk showed the group how to quickly cut out the pieces for an 8 ft Rok using a gridded board, rulers, and a rotary cutter. A comparison of preferences of scissors and other cutting tools followed. I'm looking forward to trying out some tools tomorrow that aren't currently in my inventory.
Great start for the weekend! Looking forward to more great sharing of ideas tomorrow.
