These birds have become pests even here in far-away New Zealand, and are rapidly driving out native wildlife and causing major problems in waterways and on farms, where they eat all the grass intended for sheep or cows.  We would need a huge number of kites to scare even a small proportion of them, and of course they would just cause problems elsewhere.  Presumably those who protest against the killing of these birds do the same when authorities wish to kill other pests, such as rats and cockroaches?  Or does having feathers make a difference?

I don't know,Mel. Geese can be very aggressive and I can easily see them going after a kite to say nothing of the more sensitive parts of a kite flier.
