[Port Townsend] A three day celebration of kite making. Teachers from all over the world are invited to teach attendees about kite making. Ft Worden is one of the largest kitemakers events in the country.

[Austin] Texans celebrate the spring by flying every kind of kite imaginable and we’re doing it on Sunday March 5, 2006 in Austin, Texas. The Zilker Park Kite Festival is a 78 year young single line competition. There is no admission or registration charge. The 2005 festival drew a crowd well over 15,000. Everyone is welcome whether they fly their kite or just to see the hundreds of kites in the air.

Competition is for single line kites but every kind of kite is welcome. Categories include largest, smallest, highest angle, steadiest, most unusual and strongest pulling. All ages are eligible to compete in categories for youth and adults. See our web page for events and rules. Handsome trophies are awarded to first, second and third place winners. The Oldest and youngest competitors win trophies too. All kites entered must be home made.

Sport Kite, buggy, fighter kite and other kite flying demonstrations will be held all day. Proceeds from vendor sales go to help children in crisis. Come on down and enjoy “Kite Day” - an event that is uniquely "Austintatious". While you are here, enjoy the SXSW music festival and other spectacular spring happenings in the “Live Music Capital of the World”. Rain date is Sunday March 12, 2005.

[Lincoln City] AKA sanctioned indoor competition will be part of a three day indoor festival. Taft High School has three flying areas and all competitors are invited to come early to practice. The festival begins at 4:00pm on Friday, March 24 and ends at 4:00pm on Sunday. The competition will be at 3pm on Sunday. Trophies will be awarded for the top three finishers.

[Washington] Test your skills by entering in one of the festival’s three competitions. If you would like to build your own kite you are invited to enter the handmade kite competition. Two heart-stopping events are also offered: The always popular traditional rokkaku kite battle will be held at the end of the day and the Hot Tricks competition, which is limited to eight competitors. Kite flyers strut their stuff on the field while dazzling the crowd with trick kite moves. Awards are given in over 36 categories including aerodynamics, beauty, box, and funniest, with top prizes being the Theme Award, People’s Choice, Family Trophy, and Highest Overall Score. Kites are judged on appearance, design, construction, and performance.
 
         
[Rigby] Sunrise Kites Is sponsering a Fighter Kite clinic for Boy Scouts in the Idaho Falls Area.

National Champion will be the instructor for the clinic. He will instruct on Bridaling and flight techniques.

There is a scenic hillside to fly your kites! The following day some of the kiters go to Sam Lewis State Park to fly!

RWRSKC (VA)
[Fredericksburg] RWRSKC 2006 will establish a regional, “no pressure” competition for novice, experienced, and master sport kite competitors. RWRSKC is meant to be a “stepping stone” to AKA and Eastern League competition; an opportunity for fliers new to the world of sport kiting to experience competition in an intimate, instructional setting.
