[Pittsburgh] One Book One Community Kite Fly at the Brentwood Library

Join us by participating in this year’s One Book One Community Book read. The Sunsetter’s book club at the Brentwood Library is welcoming new members and this is a great way to become involved. We are partnering with our high school teens and hosting an adult/teen book discussion and at the same time participating
in National Kite Month by hosting a kite flying contest. Call Pam Arthur at the Book discussion and Kite Fly to be held Monday, May 1 at 6 pm.

Kites Over Lake Storey Kick Off Party
Is held in the beautiful indoor Lake Storey Pavilion
from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening
This all ages party includes a fabulous dinner,
great crafts, kite making and a suspenseful magic show.
This event requires a small fee and can be attended by reservation only.

Saturday & Sunday the outdoor kite flying festival begins at Lake Storey Park.This event is FREE for the whole family. Grounds open Saturday at 9a.m. – 8p.m. and on Sunday grounds open at 10a.m. - 2 p.m.Cookouts provided by local food services both days. Silent Auction starts Saturday and ends at 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Candy drops anytime throughout the two day event(weather depending). Kite Flying lessons taught by professionals. Each year new and exciting events take place during the two day outdoor event.

[Marina] The Marina International Festival of the Winds, located in Marina, California on the Monterey Bay, is a free, family-oriented event that takes advantage of one of Marina’s greatest natural resources, the wind. The Festival is designed to increase the awareness and educate "kids" of all ages about wind through wind-related activities and demonstrations.

The Seventh Annual Event, to be held over Mother’s Day weekend May 13 and 14, will include kite flying, hang gliding, food, vendor and informational booths, live music and entertainment, kid’s crafts, kite making workshops and demonstrations, and a Giant Inflatable Air Park. The Monterey Bay Aquarium "Splash Zone" will also be joining us again this year.
         
[ALBUQUERQUE] The First Annual Balloon Museum Air, Wind, & Wheels Fair will incorporate Kites, Hot Air Balloons, and Wheels of all Kinds. The kiting will include: Family Flying, Special Shapes Big Kites, Sport Kites, Boards, Buggies, Candy Drops, Ground Displays, Kitemaking in the Balloon Museum, and Kite Contests. No formal competitions are planned at this time. Come on out!

Fluvanna County. Kite flyers from the Richmond Air Force and Wings over
Washington kite clubs will be joining forces to provide fun, free day of

[Junction] The annual Junction Kite Makers' Retreat is held during Memorial Day Weekend at the Texas Tech Extension Campus at Juntion, TX. [Topeka] Twisted Lines begins Friday 5pm till? including a night fly. Saturday/Sunday 10-4 with competition sign up on Saturday 10 am. There will be a kite store, t-shirts, food vendor, auction and more. Twisted Lines is one of a few competition events in the mid-west. Camping available on site, no charge, no hook ups. Near by Motel 8. This will be a sanctioned event.
         
[Varennes] Vent D’Ékinox presents FreeFly 2006 june 3-4 ,2006

This event kicks off the 2006 summer season. Normand Girard (AKA member) and owner of Vent D'Ekinox (VDE) is happy to sponser the FreeFly 2006 event, Normand Girard will be the official AKA Chairperson for this event, the FQCV (AKA affiliated member,Federation Quebecoise du Cerf-Volant) will help out by supplying AKA members to provide the security requirements of the AKA for obtaining the AKA Sanctioned status and insurance required by the City of Varennes, Quebec, Canada.

By having a festival at the beginning of the summer, New fliers will have the opprotunity to meet up with the experienced ones, thus creating an evironment where the experienced fliers can pass on their knowledge. Its also a good time, to discuss the upcoming events, and make arrangements to attend them.

The majority of One Line fliers in Quebec, build their own kites. So this festival is also a venue for exchanging information on all facets of kite design, construction and stimulates creativity.

The site which is approximately 2000' long and 500' wide, and will be divided into 2 fields, field orientation will depend on wind direction.

field 1 is reserved for Vent D'Ekinox, for their Kite Demo tryouts and for the stunt kites.
field 2 will be used mainly for Free Flying single line kites.

[New Bedford] This is a kite fly is to show support to the AIDS Walk event that raises money to support individuals that are living with AIDS.. Last year 150 people walked to raise money to help those living with AIDS and in memory of their loved ones.
