[Walnut Creek] Indoor comp/practice/free flying from 6-10pm
[Austin] Texans celebrate the spring by flying every kind of kite imaginable and we’re doing it on Sunday March 4, 2007 in Austin, Texas from 10 am to 5 pm. The Zilker Park Kite Festival is a 78 year young single line competition. There is no admission or registration charge. The 2006 festival drew a crowd well over 20,000. Everyone is welcome whether they fly their kite or just to see the hundreds of kites in the air. Come join us and show off your beautiful kites!

Competition is for single line kites but every kind of kite is welcome. Categories include largest, smallest, highest angle, steadiest, most unusual and strongest pulling. All ages are eligible to compete in categories for youth and adults. See our web page for events and rules. Handsome trophies are awarded to first, second and third place winners. The Oldest and youngest competitors win trophies too. Manuactured kites are not eligible for competition, but all kites are welcome to fill the sky.

Sport Kite, buggy, fighter kite and other kite flying demonstrations will be held all day. David and Susan Gomberg are our special guests. Proceeds from vendor sales go to help children in crisis. Come on down and enjoy “Kite Day” - an event that is uniquely "Austintatious". While you are here, enjoy the SXSW music festival and other spectacular spring happenings in the “Live Music Capital of the World”. Rain date is Sunday March 11, 2007.
