[Two Rivers] The 5th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan continues to grow in size and reputation. This is now one of the largest kite festivals in the Midwest and attracts kitefliers from all over. Come and marvel at the giant show kites, precision stunt kite teams flying dual- and quad-line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays, running of the bols, and games for kids. Learn how to fly two and quad line stunt kites from the experts representing kite manufacturers. There will be a night fly on Saturday night and a bonfire on the beach. New this year will be the fireworks finale after the release of Sky Lanterns on the beach. On Sunday, there will be free kite making for kids and another day of kite flying and performances. Free shuttle service available to and from the beach at designated downtown areas.

[Cleveland] CLEVELAND KITE FESTIVAL

On September 11 and 12, there will be kites, a sky full of amazing aerial acts, and a park full of fun at Lakefront State Park (Lower Edgewater Beach) in Cleveland beginning at 11 a.m. and concluding at 5 p.m. both days. And it’s all FREE. No admission charge to bring the whole family!

The Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites (OSEK for short) will hold its annual festival.

There will be a Midway with craft booths and kite shops, a corral of Flying Animal Kites, Sensational Aerial Acts in Center Field, games and contests that include the public’s participation, and a Learn To Fly Sport Kites field. Each day will end with the Warriors taking the field for a Rokkaku Kite Battle for Supremacy of the Sky.

A Mass Ascension of kites will take place at 12 noon. Everyone who has a kite is welcome to join in this event as the National Anthem opens the events of each day. A kite-making workshop will be held in the OSEK tent twice each day. Wind Sprints for Children of All Ages will also be held both days.

OSEK is the oldest kite club in Ohio, now in its 33nd year. The group is active from April through October doing community events, workshops and talks in northeastern Ohio’s libraries, schools, parks and with organizations. There will be a kite demonstration and flying area roped off. A mass ascension will be at noon. All participants who demonstrate kites, help the kids decorating their kites, lend moral support, or help in other ways will again receive a free festival t-shirt and a beach parking voucher.

[Ashland] The Richmond Washington Regional Sport Kite Competition will be held at Taylor Park in Ashland, Virginia, on 18 September 2010. (Rain date 19 September).

RWRSKC 2010 will offer individual dual- and multi-line precision and ballet events. New last year was the addition of Novice Multi-line Precision and Ballet!

RWRSKC 2010 will also offer a novice flying clinic for new fliers that will pair each novice with an experienced flier to teach basic precision skills, landings, maybe even some basic tricks! This clinic, which will take place on Saturday morning, will allow new competitors to sharpen their skills before competing. Featured every year is a build your own kite contest and Bol races in which awards are given in different categories. Kite kits are available for $5.00.

Kiters are encouraged to bring their own; an informal "fun fly" will go on all day prior to and following the record attempt.
