[Salt Lake City] A community event featuring hot air balloons, kites, music, food, bmx demos, and fun. Unofficially, this year the event will end on the start of the 1st annual Kite Stock, a 3 day hang out and fly on the island. Camping is available on the island. This event is a must attend if you really want to have fun flying and hanging out with other kite fliers.

[Beech Mountain] Saturday afternoon, we will have Kite Builders competition using simplified rules - Flight, Craftsmanship, Beauty in the sky. There will also be open flying and flying lessons.
Sunday will be a kids and family fun fly with demonstrations of sport kites and large show kites. Craft and food vendors will be on the site as well as a Kite Store. Free kites to the first 200 Children.
         
[Callaway] The Callaway Kite Flight is an amazing AKA-sanctioned event that has hosted guests from 21 nations and 27 states these past 21 years each Labor Day Weekend. You will be welcomed here and can view a beautiful array of colorful kites in the skies above Callaway Nebraska. Bring your own kite to fly or you will be able to shop for kites & wind items at Picture Perfect Kites one of our vendors on site. Try our delicious food sold at our concession stand. You’ll be introduced to locals and guests alike. Don’t know how to fly a kite? …No problem. Friendly flyers will offer to share their insights. You’re a professional flyer wanting some safe space to try out a fabulous kite? We’ve got the perfect place for you in our pro zone.
         
[Two Rivers] The 7th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan continues to grow in size and reputation. This is now one of the largest kite festivals in the Midwest and attracts kite fliers from all over. Come and marvel at the giant show kites, precision stunt kite teams flying dual- and quad-line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays, running of the bols, and games for kids. Learn how to fly two and quad line stunt kites from the experts representing kite manufacturers. There will be a night fly on Saturday night and a bonfire on the beach. There will be a fireworks finale after the release of Sky Lanterns on the beach. We are shooting for 400 plus of Sky Lanterns being released at about the same time this year. On Sunday, there will be free kite making for kids from 9.00 AM to 11.00 AM and another day of kite flying and performances. Free shuttle service available to and from the beach at designated downtown areas. There will be food and beverage vendors there both days. Kite flying events run from 11.00am to 4.00pm both days.

[Cleveland] CLEVELAND KITE FESTIVAL! Edgewater Beach, Cleveland Lakefront State Park. You’re encouraged to bring family & friends to enjoy the two-day event, fly kites, and help the club put on a show. Our kite friend, Con Engels from Windstar Kites, will have a traveling kite shop. For the kids, we will have a make it and take it sled kite workshop. Fields events: Rokkaku battles, Mystery Ballet solo and pairs (we choose the music you fly to it), kite performances, and demo’s (by anyone who would like to do one). [Ogunquit] The 14th Annual Capriccio Festival of Kites will be held on September 8th, 2012 on the Ogunquit Beach from 10am to 2pm. The Festival is part of a two week celebration of the Arts. Over 300 kites will be given away to kids to decorate and fly. All volunteers that help with set-up, kite decorating, or demonstrate any kite flying will receive a free Capriccio Kite Festival t-shirt and free parking. Come early, stay late, and help us decorate the skies with kites.
 
         
[Jackson] Join us for this 10th Anniversary day of fun and flying! The Jackson Airport offers a large space for both a kids/family flying field and a pro-flying field for large, show kites.
We will have giant inflatables, bol racing, kids kite making, music and food, kids candy drop, kite history displays, scavenger hunt, kite vendor, a Kite Dr. to fix injured kites, the Ecology Bus with windy displays - just to name a few of the attractions!

[Ashland, VA] The Richmond Washington Regional Sport Kite Competition provides a laid-back educational competition for novice competitors to learn from and prepare for Eastern League and AKA competitions. RWRSKC 2012 will offer individual dual- and multi-line precision and ballet disciplines. These disciplines will be divided into Novice and Open classes. The event is open to fliers of all ages. The number of competitors ranges from 10 (in a rain delayed event) to 19. In 2011, 8 disciplines were offered. We will also offer a novice flying clinic for new fliers that will pair each novice with an expereinced flier to teach basic precision skills, landings, maybe even some basic tricks.Marc Conklin and Will Smoot will serve as Safety Coordinators. There are power lines across a state highway from the flying field. There is an easement between the highway and the lines. There are no issues with the Hanover County Airport.In case of rain on 15 September, a rain date of 16 September has been scheduled.
         
[Weed] 1st annual Mt. Shasta Kite Festival, a "Day at Hoy Park" in Lake Shastina, on the outskirts of Weed, California, high on the slopes of beautiful Mt. Shasta. Live music by Jimmy Limo, hot dogs, burgers, vege-wraps, and drinks by the Lake Shastina Community Foundation. Kites will be available for sale if you don't want to build your own. Family friendly fun...summer’s last hurrah!

[Coupeville] Two-day kite festival on lovely Puget Sound (on grass.) Small but popular event, well-loved by Northwest kiters and the public alike. Two-day AKA sportkite competition, single-line activities, two mass ascensions, kids' kitemaking, sportkite lessons, teddy-bear drop, large bag raffle tent.

[Chicago] Like Kite Machine NYC which culminated its stay in Far Rockaway this month, Kite Machine Chicago will dispense handmade kites built out of recycled materials to Chicagoans out of a refurbished vending machine at little to no cost to spread joyful experience, increase access to experiential arts education and further momentum for reuse projects to divert waste. We'll be present with the machine to support and get to know our kite fliers on open days, host workshops and increase access to experiential arts workshops.

[Grand Prairie] Fun Fly. Big kites, sport kites, single line kites. There is going to be a parade, kids zone, food, vendors, monarch butterfly release and much more. What a great way to start out the fall. This is a 172 acre park. So LOTS of space for everyone. What a great way to get in a little flying time before the AKA convention in Oklahoma.
[Enid] The fun begins Monday night with a reception hosted by the Enid Convention and Visitors Bureau. Workshops, competitions, challenges, and open flying starts on Tuesday morning and continues thru Saturday night.
         
[WAYNESBORO] Bring the whole family and join Waynesboro Parks & Recreation and Fly n’ High Flags & Kites for a day of fun at Coyner Springs Park on Saturday, September 29th. Come watch kites take to the sky while enjoying kite making, parachute races, old fashion hay rides, face painting, and a pick-your-own pumpkin patch. There will be great food for sale, so bring your lawn chairs and plan on spending the day!
