[Farmland] The Farmland Center Saturday (May 4th) will debut an exhibit of kites made by the late legendary Farmland kite-maker Ansel Toney.
The Ansel Toney Kite Show will begin with an opening reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit will remain on display through August 31 during The Farmland Center's regular business hours.
Historic Farmland USA Director Darrin Murrell said Ansel Toney, perhaps more than any other resident of Farmland, truly embodied the essence of what the local community is all about - talent, craftsmanship, hard work, artistic expression, individualism and integrity.
"He was also noted for his homespun friendliness and warmth with which he greeted every guest and poured into every kite he ever made," Murrell said.

[Glencoe] A WHOLE NEW EXPERIENCE!! Chicago Botanic Garden..August 10th & 11th! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScdO20qdX-s) KSWI in partnership with Gift of Wings and the Chicago Botanic Garden presents our ninth Annual Kite Festival at the Garden, featuring the Chicago Fire Kite Team featuring Eric Wolfe, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe5xOslXbis), Josh and Zach Gordon, Dan Newman, Mike Delfar, and Paul Koepke and Kathy Brinnehl. Featuring performances from Fire and Ice, and Something Old, Something New. A highlight of the weekend will be the kids kites of Charlie Sotich and the kite making workshop for the kids of Chicago. The festival will be located in a relatively small flying field, west of the main entrance. Kite fliers will have one nice area to fly during this event. The times are 10:00 am until 4:00 pm each day, with various intermissions scheduled throughout the weekend. The gardens were voted as the third best attraction in the Chicago land area, so plan to spend the entire weekend flying kites and visiting this beautiful park. This is our ninth annual event and we want to make a very good impression. There is a small parking fee. This is another wonderful kite flying event brought to you by the Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois, and your friends at Gift of Wings.....Now the number ONE kite festival in the Chicago land area, along with Wheaton and more to come in 2014.

[Dieppe] The Dieppe Kite International is the most renowned kite festival in North America.

The best kite flyers in the world, from several countries, come to Dover Park in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada to fly multi-colored kites of all shapes and sizes in the sky above.

The first Dieppe Kite International took place in 2001. The goal was to offer an event that was original, full of colors and of international calibre.

The festival owes a lot of its success to the collaboration of internationally renowned kite flyers. Their participation at the Dieppe Kite International made it a first class festival and helped promote and market kite flying as a highly respected activity.

The Dieppe Kite International is now an annual event comprised of three types of activities: kite flying, community activities and cultural activities.

[Layton] This is a kite flyers vacation, with live music, BMX demos, Hot Air Balloons, all kinds of food and craft vendors, plus kites; it is a relaxed fun fly atmosphere. There are no boundaries separating the different types of kites, or the kites from the people. Come camp right on the field and have a good time. Those who have come hve had a blast and isn’t that why we fly kites, to have a good time? So come out and join the fun, the field is plenty big enough, the scenery is pretty decent as well. Starts officially at 5 pm on Friday and runs til 8 pm on Sunday, Labor Day week end. Looking forward to seeing ya there.

The Kite Flight is held annually every Labor Day weekend at Foster Smith’s field just 4 miles SE of Callaway, NE. The Kite Flight will be held Aug 31-Sept 1, 2013 from 10am- 5pm. The large groomed pasture has ample room for spectators and professional or amateur kite flyers. In the Village of Callaway you can find free camping located at Morgan Park. There is ample room to park RV’s, campers, tents, etc. There are concessions at the Kite Flight location and various Callaway organizations and businesses will provide other options for food and entertainment during your visit. [Two Rivers] The 8th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan continues to grow in size and reputation. This is now one of the largest kite festivals in the Midwest and attracts kitefliers from all over. Come and marvel at the giant show kites, precision stunt kite teams flying dual- and quad-line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays, running of the bols, and games for kids. Learn how to fly two and quad line stunt kites from the experts. There will be a night fly on Saturday night and a bonfire on the beach. Once again there will be the Fireworks Show after the release of Sky Lanterns on the beach. Back by popular demand for the second time is the Tesla Coils demonstration on Saturday night. We are looking for a record breaking number of Sky Lanterns being released this year. UFO will make them available for sale on the beach and the public will be invited to join in the mass ascension. On Sunday, there will be free kite making for kids and another day of kite flying and performances. Free shuttle service available to and from the beach at designated downtown areas.
Please note that there is not a specific schedule of the various activities for the kite festival, save for kids kite making on Sunday Sept. 1st, from 9am to 11am, because everything is dependent on the wind conditions at that time. We operate on what we call "kite time" and all activities are based on that. For example if the wind is light, the stunts teams can still fly with their low wind kites but the giant show kites will likely be grounded until the wind picks up. Activities like running of the bols and glider drops will occur regardless of the wind condition.

[Gering] Saturday Aug 31st, from 11am until dark. At 12pm,3pm, and 6pm we will feature a local speaker discussing the days events, kite history, kiting (past and present). Kite demos! All other times will be hands on flying, spectating, and lessons.
[Richmond, VA] RAF Monthly Club Fly on the football fields at Dorey Park. Single line, sport, and fighters welcome and appropriate - NO MANJHA string!
