[Denver] Our monthly fly for the Denver Metro area and Colorado. All are welcome to join us here every First Sunday, regardless of weather conditions. Please contact us to find out if there are any changes due to soccer or other kite festivals on a particular day.
           
[Austin] Everyone is welcome to fly their kites or just enjoy the hundreds of kites in the air at the 86th Annual ABC Kite Festival at Zilker Park presented by ABC Home and Commercial Services and The Exchange Club of Austin. This heritage event is attended by thousands from all over Central Texas and beyond.
The kite flying contest is for single line kites but every kind of kite is welcome. This contest has changed very little since 1929. Categories include largest, smallest, highest angle, steadiest, most unusual, and strongest pulling. All ages are eligible to compete. See our web page for events and rules. Trophies are awarded to first, second, and third place winners. The oldest and youngest competitors win trophies, too. All kites entered must be home made. The contest is free to enter. Registration takes place 11am to 2pm the day of the event.
Sport kite, buggy, fighter kite, and other kite flying demonstrations will be held all day. Concessions sales benefit Communities in School who are working hard to keep kids in school and the prevention child abuse.
Come on down to Austin and enjoy “Kite Day” - an event that is uniquely "Austintatious". While you are here, enjoy the SXSW film festival, SXSW music festival, the Travis County Rodeo, and other spectacular spring happenings in the “Live Music Capital of the World”.

[Berkeley] Fun fly and workshop, for beginners to masters. We will be on the back side of the Berkeley Marina. Bring your kites or you may borrow from us. We will have very experienced people on the field to help you improve your flying skills or perhaps try out some team flying.
[Pensacola Beach] 11:00am - 4:00pm Join us as we fly in support of Innisfree Hotels, Inc with their Relay for Life fundraiser event. We will be flying kites behind Hampton Inn Hotel, gulfside, on beautiful Pensacola Beach’s sugar white sand. Winds permitting, we will be flying SLK’s, dualies, quads, powerkites, and Gumbeaux, the famous McCaw parrot. Come out and support a great cause and enjoy a day on the beach!

[Matthews] The Matthews Heritage Museum’s newest exhibit “Go Fly a Kite” will open on March 20th, the first day of spring. The exhibit will feature a variety of miniature kites, most of which were made by Jim Martin, a noted kite flyer and maker.
Most of us know the story of Ben Franklin’s experiment of flying a kite to determine if lighting was caused by electricity, but kites have been useful in other capacities. Kites were also instrumental in the research of the Wright brothers when developing the first airplane in the late 1800s.
Today we generally use kites as a source of recreation on a blustery March day. But to many it is a passion and a hobby. Kite flying is a worldwide sport, recreation, and pastime for thousands of people – from the very young to the eldest, in almost every culture. There are regular kite festivals celebrated annually.
Mr. Martin has been making many of his own kites for over a decade. He is best known for his kite arches and miniature kites. Jim’s miniature kites have won numerous awards and are very popular. He continues to work on new designs. In 2013 he participated in the Miniature Kite Challenge in Seaside, Oregon and placed first for “Best Flight”, second for “Most Beautiful” and third for smallest size. The exhibit will be on display to May 9th. Come celebrate national Kiting month (April) by stopping by the museum to see this interesting and timely exhibit!

[Pensacola] 5:30pm -7:00pm Join us as we fly kites for the Exhibition game of the Double-A Affiliate Pensacola Blue Wahoos against Major League Baseball’s Cincinnati Reds. We will be flying in the open areas adjacent to the stadium. We have been invited by the organization to fly for this sold-out event.

[Macomb] As part of this year’s annual Earth Day Event, we are pleased to announce that Kite Enthusiast Heather McMeekan will be presenting a workshop on kite making and all visitors can make a kite to fly.
Ms. McMeekan will also be presenting an indoor flying demonstration and outdoor flying demonstration as weather permits. The event will conclude with a mass ascension at 2:30.

[San Jose] Kite-making class for twenty 7th and 8th graders.
 
[Milton] students from happy hollow will learn about the history of Blue Hill Observatory including the use of kites to study the upper atmosphere. They will also learn how to build their own kites. Kite fliers are encouraged to put kites in the sky around the observatory to entertain the students during their free time outside.
[MURPHY] NOTTELY RIVER VALLEY VINEYARDS, LLC celebrates National Kite Month on Fridays and Saturdays om April and the first weekend in May 2014. This is a fun fly for all. The great flying site will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flying will also be available Sunday, April 27th. during the 2nd Annual Bud Bread Wine Weekend in Mountain Wine Country.

[Livingston] “It’s a bird! It’s a plane!” “It’s Merced County Sheriffs Huey Helicopter!” Well actually, it could be all three at Livingston’s 3rd Annual Kite Festival.
The Merced County Sheriff will be present at Livingston’s 3rd Annual Kite Festival showcasing its arsenal of crime-fighting tools including their 1973 UH-1H Vietnam-era Huey Helicopter, Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. Armored Vehicle, “Bearcat,” and The Sheriff’s Water Rescue Boat. Come meet and thank some of the dedicated officers including the pilots and SWAT and Dive Operators.
The 3rd Annual “Time to Fly” Kite Festival is FREE TO THE PUBLIC and is presented by the Knights of Columbus to kick of The Week of the Young Child in Merced County.

There will be GIANT Kite Flying Demonstrations by Brian Champie, George Halpin, Mike North and many more. The Kite Festival will have activities for everyone to enjoy including “The Jim Strealy Memorial Candy Drop,” Kite Building Contests, Pie Eating Contests, Face Painting, Bounce Houses, Food/Crafts and Kite Vendor booths, plus various cultural performances. We will also have safety demonstrations from PG&E, Livingston Police and Fire, CHP, and Merced County Sheriff.
We expect a crowd of over 5,000. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter kite flying and building competitions and win a variety of wonderful prizes. Don’t have a kite? Don’t worry! The first 500 kids get a free Kite and we will have kite-making workshops for children to build their own kites. We will also have kite building days at local schools the week leading up to the Festival all with BLUE tails to represent the week of the young child.
There will be plenty of space for free flying kite lovers or those who prefer to stroll around and just enjoy the magnificent view and entertainment. Don’t forget to enter FREE Kite Building Contest!

[Simi Valley] At the 2014 Family Fest @ the Library on April 6 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., children’s author Alexis O’Neill will share her newest picture book, "The Kite That Bridged Two Nations: Homan Walsh and the First Niagara Suspension Bridge" in an interactive presentation followed by a kite-making workshop with Dave Shenkman from Kites for Kids.

The largest kite festival in the Denver metropolitan area is now in a NEW LOCATION! Larger fields, much more parking on site, more vendors, We still encourage you to arrive early to be with our kite club in our area, large Free Fly area for all. Please DO NOT FLY on the west end of the field, there is a large power line there.

[Port Aransas] National Kite Month - April is a series of events celebrating the kite hobby across the entire country and is supported and organized by the American Kitefliers Association and the Kite Trade International Association, It is held each spring during the month of late March- April-, most folks relate kite flying to the spring winds.
We are going to dedicate this years fly in memory of the former AKA Region 8 and former President of the AKA who recently passed away, Richard H. Dermer. He was an iconic kite flier and supporter of the AKA, if you had the privelidge to know him you were indeed blessed.
Bring your own drinks and snacks, there are some bleachers, but more sensitive "hinds" best bring your own chairs as well!!
