[Saint-Honore-de-Chicoutimi] Saint-Honore dans l’Vent is a fun festival and a great get together for all kite flyers!
Nestled a couple of hours north of Quebec City, in the Saguenay area, Saint-Honore is a small town in the suburbs of Chicoutimi. Every year, in June, we celebrate the arrival of summer with this beautiful kite festival. Kitefliers from all over Quebec, Ontario, the maritime provinces, and northern United States drive to the event to meet up with friends they may not have seen during the winter and fly kites together!! Special guests also fly in from Western Canada, the States, Europe, and other parts of the world for this three day event and a lot of fun every year! In an all French environment, communication is never an issue and everyone gets along great in all languages!!
For the festival to take place, the local airport is partly closed for the weekend but part of it stays open so small airplanes fly by as kites decorate the sky... living well together with the supervision of our control tower!!
Saint-Honore dans l’Vent is not the biggest event of all but it’s a fun festival where the wonderful kitefliers and volunteers taking part make it unique and unforgettable!!
Come join the fun this year, June 13th to 15th, 2014!!!

This year’s festival celebrates Windscape’s 10th anniversary, and welcomes a number of celebrity flyers from years past, bringing them back to the Windscape Field to showcase their creations and skills alongside some brand-new talent from across the globe. Featuring enormous, wonderful kites and inflatables, out-of-this-world stunt kite flyers, quad line flyers, and teams that thrill the crowd, and colorful banners to brighten up the festival grounds, Windscape Kite Festival truly offers something for everyone.
“We have some incredible new flyers and artists coming to the festival this year, and we are so excited to bring back some of our favorites from the past ten years,” explained festival organizer Shann Gowan. “It’s a lot of work to pull this festival together, but with the help of our dedicated volunteers, this year’s festival is shaping up to be even better than ever.”
The festival would not be possible without the 350+ volunteers, staff members, and sponsors who all contribute to ensure the event’s success. Their support has allowed Windscape to continue to grow over the past decade, becoming one of North America’s very best kite festivals.
The kite festival is held in conjunction with Long Day’s Night music festival, which runs Thursday through Sunday at the Windscape Field. With exciting kites, fun activities, and great musical entertainment, Windscape Kite Festival 2014 is shaping up to be a can’t-miss event this summer.
