(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScdO20qdX-s) KSWI in partnership with Gift of Wings and the Chicago Botanic Garden presents our Eleventh Annual Kite Festival at the Garden, featuring the Chicago Fire Kite Team featuring Eric Wolfe, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe5xOslXbis), Josh and Zach Gordon and Paul Koepke and Kathy Brinnehl. Featuring performances from Fire and Ice. A highlight of the weekend will be the kids kites of Charlie Sotich and the kite making workshop for the kids of Chicago. The festival will be located in a relatively small flying field, west of the main entrance. Kite fliers will have one nice area to fly during this event. The times are 10:00 am until 3:00 pm each day, with various intermissions scheduled throughout the weekend. The gardens were voted as the third best attraction in the Chicago land area, so plan to spend the entire weekend flying kites and visiting this beautiful park. This is our eleventh annual event and we want to make a very good impression. There is a small parking fee. This is another wonderful kite flying event brought to you by the Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois, and your friends at Gift of Wings.....Now the number ONE kite festival in the Chicagoland area, along with Wheaton’s Go Fly A Kite event, and more to come in 2016. [Cleveland] COME FLY WITH US!
On August 22th and 23rd, 2015, the Cleveland Kite Festival will once again bring kite fliers to Edgewater Park in Cleveland. The Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites (OSEK) has sponsored this festival for 28 years of its 38 year history as a club.
Each day’s activities begin at 11 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
With kite flying enthusiasts from Canada now attending our festival, we became international, and now include both country’s national anthems about noon both days. The Windjammers International Performance Sport Kite Team will perform twice each day.
Open flying areas for everybody will flank a demonstration and games area in the center of the huge meadow at Edgewater Park. So bring your kites and picnics and share and enjoy the contests and summer days. Children’s kite making workshops will be held twice each day. Kites cost $3 each. No other charges are made for attendance, parking, or participation.
After the national anthems, the demo field will be used to show folks how to fly sport kites. This Learn To Fly hour will be manned by experienced members of kite clubs. After that, the field will be used for games and sky ballet demonstrations.

[Gering] 3rd Annual Bluffs Breeze Kite Festival is a great FREE family gathering at a beautiful location at the Five Rocks Amphitheater in Gering, Nebraska. (RV hookups are available.) We kick off Saturday, September 6th, in Mitchell, Nebraska, at the old Mitchell airport immediately after the Old West Balloon Festival launch at 6 a.m. We will be there until dark. Sunday, the 6th, we move back to Gering, Nebraska. Fives Rocks Amphitheater for two days of kite flying, children, adults, amateurs, and professionals all gather for fun. Vendors will be on hand for food and drinks. Plenty of shade, clean restrooms. 11 a.m. until dark on these two days. Contact Curt for more details at 785-483-1309. Thanks to the 100’s of people that attended last year to make this such a huge success.

[Two Rivers] The 10th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan will once again be held at beautiful Neshotah Beach, Two Rivers, Wisconsin. This is now one of the largest kite festivals in the Midwest and attracts kitefliers from all over. Come and marvel at the giant show kites, precision stunt kite teams flying dual- and quad-line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays, running of the bols, and games for kids. Learn how to fly two and quad line stunt kites from the experts. There will be a night fly on Saturday night, conditions permitting. There will be something new at the beach this year, a pavilion, and it will be built just in time for the event. What is a stage with no music, right? For the first time, we will have a live band, Boogie And The Yoyoz, providing live entertainment on Saturday night from about 8.00 pm to 11.00 pm. This was made possible by our Title and Band Sponsors, Shoreline Credit Union and Fox Community Credit Union (fomerly RiverWood-Maritime Credit Union). Once again, there will be the Fireworks Show after the release of Sky Lanterns on the beach. We are looking for a record breaking number of Sky Lanterns being released this year. UFO will make them available for sale on the beach and the public will be invited to join in the mass ascension. On Sunday, there will be free kite making for kids and another day of kite flying and performances. Free shuttle service available to and from the beach to the Two Rivers High School (Lincoln Avenue/Hwy. 42).
Please note that there is not a specific schedule of the various activities for the kite festival, save for kids kite making on Sunday, September 6th, from 9am to 11am, because everything is dependent on the wind conditions at that time. We operate on what we call "kite time" and all activities are based on that. For example, if the wind is light, the stunts teams can still fly with their low wind kites but the giant show kites will likely be grounded until the wind picks up. Activities like running of the bols and glider drops will occur re
