[Tryon] Mark your calendars for Foothills Equestrian Nature Center’s Annual Go Fly a Kite Day on April 1st at 1pm! This long running event is always a family favorite in the community. Get outside and enjoy springtime at FENCE on this fun day. It’s always a great time flying kites up on Hawk’s ridge and enjoying the wonderful view of community members flying kites and having fun together. FENCE will provide kites to the first 200 children who arrive and there will be drinks and snacks for all who attend the event. Individuals are encouraged to bring their own kites as well for the event!

[Glenwood] Gather up your family and friends and come to Glenwood and join us for the Whitewater Mesa Fun Kite Flying Picnic. There are usually 100+ people and there is plenty of space without fences to tangle your kite strings, and room to park for your tailgate picnic. Admission is free and there will be a free raffle drawing for a kite at 2.30pm, so be sure to pick up your raffle ticket on arrival at the gate with the labyrinth sign. While you are here and for a completely different experience, walk one or all five of the labyrinths across the road at Whitewater Mesa Labyrinths.
 
         
[Woodstock ] Join Woodstock Land Conservancy for a celebration of spring! Bring a kite to fly at the open field of Zena Cornfield, Woodstock Land Conservancy’s first preserve on April 1, the first day of National Kite Month. There will also be a spring flower planting activity for kids.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own kites. Some kites will be available. Materials for flower planting will be provided.
The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Woodstock Land Conservancy. Parking is available across the street from Zena Cornfield and along Gitnick Road on the stream side.
 
         
[Tulsa] Tulsa Wind Riders will gather at Tulsa Botanic Garden for Kites at The Garden for the 4th year in a row. The garden will offer kite making for the kids for 3 dollars. The admission to the Botanical Gardens is 8 dollars for adults and 4 dollars for children. Admission for AKA members will be free courtesy of the Tulsa Wind Riders.

[Santa Barbara] SAVE THE DATE! The 31st annual Santa Barbara Kite Festival returns Sunday, April 10th, 2016 with new extended hours 11am to 5pm, and new kite contests! In addition to the ever-popular “Children’s Tail Chase”, new kite contests for the 2016 festival include “Best of Fest”, “Best Ground Display (banners, flags display), “Youngest & Oldest Kite Flyers”, “Most Unique/Unusual Kite”, “Funniest Kite”, and “Most Unflyable Kite” ! Popular past contests will return including “Most Beautiful” (handmade & commercial), “Highest Flying”, “Largest & Smallest Kites”, “Kite Fighting” and “Sport Flying”. Prizes will be awarded to all contest winners. The Santa Barbara Kite Festival is held each year on the west campus lawn at Santa Barbara City College 973 Cliff Drive, Santa Barbara, 93109 (next to the Garvin Theatre), a short distance from the main campus. [Bel Air] Calling kids of all ages to the 12th annual Bel Air Kite Festival! To be held at Rockfield Park in Bel Air, Maryland on April 8th from 10am to 4pm. [Lahaina] Celebrate the wide world of kites and national kite month during this two-day Maui event:  On Friday between 10 am and 8:30 pm, a traditional Chinese Kite Festival takes place at the Wo Hing Museum on Front Street. Enjoy an exhibit of handmade kites in traditional and modern styles. Help make a large kite to be flown the next day; purchase one of the many kites for sale. Hear presentations on the history of kites around the world and kite sports. There will be Chinese music and entertainment, teas and food samples served in the garden. 
On Saturday, take the whole family to fly kites from 9 am to 2 pm! This outdoor event takes place on the Lahaina Cannery Mall’s open lawn off Honoapiilani Hwy. Watch aerial displays of acrobatic sport kites and kite fighting from Hawaii Kitefliers Association. Bring your own kite to fly and get tips from the kite masters. It’s all free.

[Doylestown] Celebrate National Kite Month by learning to build, decorate and fly your own kite on the grounds of Fonthill Castle. Kite expert, Clifford "The Kiteman" Quinn, will discuss his passion for kites and kite flying in a presentation at 1 pm. Bring your own kite to fly or purchase one to build and decorate. Using kites as a common theme, Spartanburg Soaring! engages cultural curiosity and promotes active play through activities and events all across the city, including live music, great food trucks, and an art market.
Kids can make and decorate their own kites, purchase a kite from the CCC, or bring a kite from home. The festival is free and open to all, including the many international kite flyers who have come from Europe, Asia, Canada, and across the United States. The kite festival will be held in and around the Chapman Cultural Center, where hundreds of colorful kites will fill the skies above Spartanburg.

Also other activities such as: face decorating; join in the parade; meet over a dozen mascots; get picture taken with the princesses; tour inside the Bernalillo Co. Helicopter; cow milking demos, jump rope like you’ve never seen before (like while sitting on the ground). All free. $10 per carload parking fee at the park. Entrance and all activities are free.
 
         
[Reading] Every April, the Y celebrates Healthy Kids Day, our national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids. April is also National Kite Month, when the Berks County Parks and Recreation Department hosts "Go Fly a Kite! Day". The YMCA of Reading & Berks County and the County of Berks have joined forces to create one fantastic event combining healthy activities & information for kids and their families with kite-flying fun!
