8) September 7 & 8, 2002: Liberty Remembers: A Kitefliers'' Tribute at Liberty State Park, NJ. Contact LHSO14B oparadis@bellatlantic.net or (201) 489-7186 This event is the opportunity for kite fliers from any place and every place to pay tribute to people that lost their lives and folks that lost someone in their lives. You can participate by flying whatever kites you like. While red, white and blue would be appreciated, it is not a limiting factor. The idea is to fly kites in tribute and to hopefully use the power that some say kites have in healing, soothing and beautification over an environment. It would be in contrast to what the skies looked like approximately a year ago to date. This is a grass roots event. We will need sport kite ballet demos, single lines, flow forms, air forms, etc... Liberty State Park has plenty of room for all. In the past few years the park has expanded it’s lawn area ten fold. With grass field, free parking, restrooms, 360 degrees of unobstructed wind. But when the wind comes from the direction of the lady, there is no sweeter wind. Again this is a grass roots effort. This is not a competition or money making event.
