[Austin] Thousands attend this annual welcom to spring in Austin, TX. Admission is free and events are free. Proceeds from T-Shirt and concessions sales go toward the prevention of child abuse. This is a single line competition and all kites must be hand made. Sport kite, buggy and giant kite demonstrations will be given throughout the event. [Berkeley] This is a sanctioned sport kite, fighter kite and kite making competition. Registration is open to all AKA members.
  
         
[Spiro] The Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center sponsors this non-competitive kiting event each year to show families the joy of kiting and ushering out the winter and the beginning of spring. All kiters are invited to show off their skills and kites. There are usually between 500 and 1000 families at the event. There will be kids activities and if you would like to help with kite making, please let Dennis Peterson know.
  
         
[Slippery Rock] For the sixth consecutive year, the Fly Pittsburgh Kite Club will be sponsoring their Annual Indoor Fly. This event will run from 1 p.m.to 5 p.m. (Note the change from last year) There will be ample room for everyone to fly, since the gymnasium is the size of three basketball courts. Ceiling height is approximately 20 ft. Event highlights include musical entertainment by our own professional DJ, Con Engels. There will also be a training area and seminar for first time indoor flyers plus special demos by master flyers Tom Baumgardner and Micheal Moore. In addition, there will be some fun filled competitions including the Dizzy Lizzy Challenge to see who can perform the most 360 passes in one minute. NOTE: ALL FLYERS MUST WEAR PROPER ATHLETIC FOOTWEAR AND PARTICIPATE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

[Islamorada] On March 22 - 24, Holiday Isle Resort in Islamorada will host to the first ever kiteboarding competition of it’s kind. This three day event will display some of the areas hottest riders as well as bring together the festive spirit of kiteboarding. [Washington] Enter a handmade kite in the Smithsonian’s 36th Annual Kite Festival! This year’s theme, "Let Freedom Fly," celebrates the American spirit A special award is given for the kite that best interprets this theme. Representatives from kite organizations set up stunning displays under the open sky, where participants and spectators are invited to ask questions about kite making and kite flying. In addition to the competition, there are demonstrations by kite-flying masters, as well as a traditional rokkaku kite battle.
