Description:
This 5th annual kite fly has accomodations for two flying fields - one for the serious kite enthusiasts and another nearby for the casual fliers of all ages! The Ecology Bus, a mobile science laboratory and classroom will be on site with free activities of a windy theme. Kite making for kids, glider contests, music and door prizes throughout the day! More kite fly features will be added in the coming months, so check back for updated information!
The Prairie Winds kite fly is FREE for kids, families and individuals and will run from 12 noon. to 5 p.m. Southwestern Minnesota is known to have a windy disposition! We have a wide range of wind conditions so you'll want to bring the kites that enjoy gentle breezes on up to kites that thrive in stronger winds!

At Jackson, travel north of Interstate 90 on Highway 71. Take the first paved road to the east (800th St. - also county road 34) to the airport.

Fort Belmont, less than two miles from the kite fly site, is hosting a Rendezvous at this historic site on September 8-9. Make it a weekend of fun with kite flying on the 8th and Rendezvous exploration on the 9th! Ample hotel accomodations are available in Jackson. Call the Jackson Chamber for more information at 507-847-3867. Should Mother Nature provide inclement weather on the 8th, the kite fly will post-pone to September 9th. Food will be available on site.
