Directions:

From I-77 take US 421 west to Boone NC. Pick up state route 105. Follow 105 west to route 184, turn right and follow 184 to Banner Elk, NC. At the traffic light in Banner Elk turn left. Just past Lees McRae College turn right on Beech Mountain Parkway. Follow the Parkway to the top of the mountain. The kite field will be on your right. If you start going downhill you have gone too far.

Comments:
Saturday will be a free fly day on the kite field. Sunday there will be kite making for children sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Giant Single Line kites will be flown by members of the W.A.C.K.O.S. (Wings Across Carolina and Okra Society), sport kite demonstrations by mebers of the Richmond Air Force and unique hand made kites shown and displayed by members of both clubs.
