Description:
First annual Portland kite festival at Blue Lake Park. All fliers invited. Emphasis is on family fun, children’s events, learning how to fly, toy drop, mass ascension, interactive kite play, possible clowns, kite display and identification contest, possible relays, wind and windless toys, picnic grounds, beautiful lake with ducks and birds. NO COMPETITION! Quad and dual line areas may be limited.
There will be demo stunt kite flying, running of the bols, large kite displays, live Glen Miller Era Band, food booths, kite sales, clowns and face painting.

Directions:
From West I-84 exit at 207th, turn left over freeway, turn right at NE Sandy Blvd., Turn left at 223rd (Fairview Ave), turn left at NE Blue Lake Rd., enter park. From I-84 East, exit at 238th and turn right away from freeway, turn left onto NE Sandy Blvd., turn right onto 223rd (Fairview Ave) and follow above instructions.
Comments:
Hotels in nearby Gresham, Fairview, Troutdale, and Portland Airport area (Airport Way). From I-5 or I-205 take I-84 East and follow instructions. Watch for signs on I-84 for Blue Lake Park. If wind is light, but weather is good, event will continue with non-wind toys, activities and events for the whole family.
