Description:
The top competitive kite fliers of all kinds from all over the Northeast will converge on Scarborough beach for two days of fun and spirited competitions. The competitors will be competing for regional and national points as the festival will be sanctioned by the both the American Kitefliers Association and the Eastern League Sport Kite Association.



There will be lessons for those who would like to learn to fly and a clinic conducted by two former national champions for those who have never competed and would like to try. There will be a single-line field to fill the sky with kites and extra room for anyone who would like to come and fly with us.

Directions:
From the CT, NY to Narragansett cross roads:

Take I 95N through Ct to Exit 92 and turn right on Route 2,

Follow 1.5 miles (at RI beaches sign) and make a sharp right onto Route 78 east.

Follow road for 4 miles to traffic light.

Make a left onto US Route 1N. Go 18 Miles take Narragansett Exit,

Make a right off the ramp.

The fields for the Southern New England Kite Championships are located at:

Scarborough State Beach
970 Ocean Rd.
Narragansett RI 02882

This new location has excellent wind and faces the ocean. The Competition fields are both 275 x 300.

The 20+ acres of grass parking lots at the south side of Scarborough State Beach are mostly level grass allowing plenty of room for kites of all kinds. The Scarborough State Beach south bathhouse is in the middle of the flying field, and the beach offers ample parking.
