Pontiac Tourism has been working with Illinois Kite Enthusiast Club, Sparling Entertainment, Chicago Kite and the Kansas City Kite Club to bring the Second Annual Pontiac Kite Festival to town! May 31 & June 1, 2008 at the Pontiac Rec Plex from 10 - 5 PM daily. Huge crowds are expected to turn out to make the Pontiac Kite Festival a soaring success. This family oriented event features a gigantic purple octopus, a huge gecko and many other large singleline and quadline kites. Some of the state’s best kite¬fliers, and national champion winners will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate their skills. There is plenty of space for you to fly your own kite. Bring a kite, or buy a kite from Chicagokite/Kite Harbor Shop, who will be on site. Bring a chair and sit back and enjoy watching the sky fill with color. Take I55 to exit 197 (Rt. 116) go east. Just past the RR tracks go South on Old Airport Road. The Rec Plex is located a mile or so past the State Police Headquarters on the east side of the road.
