Description:
This is our monthly club fly. We meet at Stapleton Central Park EVERY 2nd. Sunday monthly, regardless of weather. (At least, I will show up anyway.)
This was the original International Airport for Denver until 1995, when it was replaced by our current D.I.A. Stapleton Development constructed this park as part of their redevelopment of the airport property. They welcome kiting as part of their promo to sell real estate. They turned ownership of Central Park over to the City Of Denver last year. OSOW was invited there for the 2008 Festival. The wind consistency at Stapleton is better than most of what we found in Colorado. Stapleton is far enough east on the plains for wind consistency.

Interstate 70, or 270. Quebec exit. On Quebec Street, go south past the Quebec Square or WalMart mall,then down the road,you will see the United Airlines training center, past that, then turn left on M.L.K. Go east a few blocks, you will see the old airport control tower and parking garage on left. Pass that, cross the light at Central Park Blvd, and make a left into the next left turn lane to park.

This is the home of the One Sky, One World International Kite Festival for Peace, founded by Jane Parker Ambrose. As you AKA'ers know, this is a worldwide event with simultaneous flies commencing on the second Sunday of October. We fly here to promote OSOW and honor Jane for her contribution to kiting here, as Jane tries to help us revive interest in kites inland (no wind)
