Start your kite adventure with "The 33rd Annual Don Jacobs Toyota Frank Mots International Kite Festival to be held on Saturday, September 10th,& Sunday September 11th, 2011, in Veterans Park on Milwaukee’s Lakefront from 10:00 am until 6:00Pm Saturday and 10:00 am until 5:00pm on Sunday. We invited County Executive Chris Abele to kick off the festival at 12 noon with the Caribou Coffee grand launch of hopefully 600 kites. That’s right...two great days of flying. The event is sponsored by the Kite Society of Wisconsin and Illinois, and Gift of Wings, and our newest sponsors, Don Jacbos Toyota, B93, and 1290am WMCS. Featured performers include Chicago Fire Kite Team, featuring Eric Wolfe, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5J5X2dKmr0) the Revolution pairs Kite Flying Team...Something Old..Something New. Mots also will feature Josh and Zach Gordon, 02, the kids kites of Charlie Sotich, Dan Newman, Paul Koepke, Mike Delfar, Ann Vondriska, & Donna Schenk as Mrs Kite Lady, and the most powerful line up of giant kites in the Midwest..The Giant Kites of Yves Laforest, Flown by Alex and Julie Dagenais. They will feature the ALL NEW SUPER GIANT OCTOPUS kite flying high over Milwaukee. The professional kite teams will start performing at 12:30 pm followed by the US Cellular Kids Mad Dash at around 2:00. See Roscoe from the Milwaukee Admirals, and Bango from the Bucks.

Milwaukee is: 1-1/2 hour drive from Madison (via I-94), 1-1/2 hour drive from Chicago (via I-90), 5-1/2 hour drive from Minneapolis/St. Paul (via I-94). BE AWARE THAT THE FREEWAY SYSTEM In DOWNTOWN MILWAUKEE IS COMPLETED. From the west, straight into Milwaukee and head to I-794 exit Lincoln Memorial drive! Easy!! From the South, exit at "Lakefront" exit, and East to the lake!! From the North, exit "Lakefront and then East to the Lake! Veterans Park is North of the freeway exit on Lincoln Memorial DR
