Description:
1st Annual Pleasant Prairie Kite and Winter Festival
The “COOLEST” KITE FESTIVAL in the Midwest.
On Saturday, February 11th, The Kite Society of Wisconsin and Illinois, Gift of Wings, and the Pleasant Prairie RECPLEX are presenting the 1st Annual Pleasant Prairie Kite and Winter Festival at the RECPLEX Center in Pleasant Prairie, WI, on the SW corner of Lake Andrea, near the Wisconsin/Illinois border. Yes, I said “ON THE ICE”. The event will begin at 10:00 am, through 4:00 pm, with the GRAND LAUNCH of 400 plus kites at 11:00 am.
The Chicago Fire Precision Kite Team will be performing, along with EOS, FIRE & ICE, Elizabeth Gordon, Dan Newman, Zach Gordon, Josh Gordon, and Paul Keopke. The giant Kites of Gift of Wings will be making another appearance with the large 90 foot Manta Ray kite, and the Super Giant 140 ft Octopus kite. We also be featuring Ice Hockey and other winter events.
This family event is FREE to all, with plenty FREE parking. We will also be giving away free kites to the first 30 kids that participate in the “KIDS MAD DASH”. The Kids Mad Dash is 30 kids launching their kites all at the same time, and who ever gets their kite the highest in 60 seconds wins a prize. The event will also feature a FREE kids kite making area, and a contest to name our new event. The person that comes up with the “COOLEST” name will win a $50.00 stunt kite from Gift of Wings. Bring your kite and join the fun or purchase a kite from Gift of Wings at the event. Food will also be served.
*If the lake is not frozen, we will fly on land next to the lake…...
