Description:

Greater Reading Area’s Kite Festival, featuring professional kite contests for adults and youth. Sled Kite Making Workshop for Kids, and Sled Kite Contests and 50-yard kite fly dash. Kite demos in the air and on the ground. Stunt kite flying demos and instruction. Festival highlights: Lehigh Valley Zoo "Birds of Prey" program, demos by the Da Vinci Science Center and Bloomin' Balloon hot air balloon. Children’s activities & much more! Concessions available. Free event, $2 parking. Presented by Berks County Parks and Recreation and the Sky Pilots Kite Club.

Directions:

From HARRISBURG:Route 78 East to Strausstown Exit (Rt. 183). Turn right at the top of the ramp and follow Route 183 South through Bernville; past Blue Marsh Lake until you come to a traffic light (West Leesport Rd.). Turn right on to W. Leesport Rd. Go .3 mile to stop sign and turn right onto County Rd. Go .4 mile and turn left into the facility. Go past barn on left and into parking lot.From PHILADELPHIA & SOUTH/EAST:Route 422 West towards Reading/Lebanon. After the Arby’s on your right and Burger King on your left, stay in the left lane onto 422 West (DO NOT take 422 Business/Mt. Penn). Go approx. 10 miles and the road will split. Stay in the left lane and continue to follow 222N. Stay on this highway until you see the exit for Rt.183. Take exit and turn left to take 183 North, approx. 1/2 mile to traffic light. Turn left onto West Leesport Rd. Go .3 mile to stop sign and turn right onto County Road. Go .4 mile and turn left into the facility. Go past barn on left and into parking area.From LANCAS
