The Ocean Beach Kite Festival is an annual one-day free event primarily benefitting school-age children in San Diego, CA. The organization, costs, and staffing are underwritten by the Ocean Beach Kiwanis Foundation, the San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation, and the San Diego Kite Club. The activities begin at 10 am and continue until 4 pm on Saturday, May 10, 2014 (the day before Mother’s Day). The main activities include children’s kite-making (instruction provided)and decorating, kite flying, sport kite demonstrations by world-class kiteflyers, kite displays by expert kitemakers, kite judging with prizes in many categories, "chase the tail" and "candy drop" events for children by age category, free sport kiteflying lessons, live music, a street fair, carnival rides, and food vendors. Free parking and free shuttle service are provided at Robb Field, which is located about a half mile from Dusty Rhodes Park.

Directions:
Directions to event parking: From North Coastal San Diego County, take I-5 South, exit to Sea World Drive, turn right on Sea World, and continue until you cross the river. Then bear right onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd, turn right on West Point Loma Blvd (first signal), right on Bacon St., immediate right into Robb Field parking, and follow signs to event parking.
From North Inland, South, or East San Diego County, take I-8 West to its end. Turn left, then bear right onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Turn right on West Point Loma Blvd. (first signal), right on Bacon St., immediate right into Robb Field parking, and follow signs to event parking.
Take the free shuttle to Dusty Rhodes Park, or simply walk up the ramp to Sunset Cliffs Blvd. and cross at the traffic light.

Glen Rothstein will be the Master of Ceremonies for this 66th Annual Ocean Beach Kite Festival, which promises to be a wonderful fun-filled day for kite enthusiasts of all ages.
