[Two Rivers] The 4th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan continues to grow in size and reputation. This is now one of the largest kite festivals in the Midwest and attracts kitefliers from all over. Come and marvel at the giant show kites, precision stunt kite teams flying dual- and quad-line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays, running of the bols and games for kids. There will be a night fly on Saturday night and a bonfire on the beach. New this year will be the release of sky lanterns on the beach. On Sunday, there will be free kite making for kids and another day of kite flying and performances.

''The 31ST Annual Frank Mots International Kite Festival will be held on Saturday, September 12th,& Sunday September 13th, 2009, in Veterans Park on Milwaukee's Lakefront from 10:00 am until 6:00Pm Saturday and 10:00 am until 5:00pm on Sunday. County Executive Scott Walker will kick off the festival at 12 noon with the Caribou Coffee grand launch of hopefully 500 kites. That's right...two great days of flying. The event is sponsored by the Kite Society of Wisconsin and Illinois, and Gift of Wings, and our newest sponsors, 102.1 WLUM, B93, and 1290am WMCS. Featured performers include Chicago Fire, feraturing Eric Wolfe, the new Revolution Kite Flying Team...IQUAD. [Ogunquit] The 11th Annual Capriccio Festival of Kites will be held on September 12, 2009, on the Ogunquit Beach from 10am to 2pm. The Festival is part of a two-week Festival of the Arts. Over 300 kites will be given away to kids to decorate and fly. All volunteers that help with set-up, kite decorating, or demonstrate any kite flying will receive a free Capriccio Kite Festival t-shirt and free parking. Come early, stay late, and help us flood the skies with kites.
 
         
[Jackson] This one day, family-focused event, has two flying fields - one for professional flying enthusiasts and one for families to fly. [Davenport] Family Fun and Kite festival highlights the many youth focused agencies coming together for a fun outdoor weekend of fun. Activities include kite building for kids, candy drops, juggling club, Rok battles, Bol races, and much much more.
         
[Dorchester] This festival lasts for two days. Sept 19 will be the day for major activities. If rain on Sept 19, all programs will be moved to Sept 20.

This annual event will feature the best kites from the East and West. Adults and children, novices and professionals will fly kites to their hearts’ content. Ornate kites with magnificent color, including an over 300 foot long dragon kite, will punctuate a day filled with excitement, harmony and peace. We have a 50 feet wide rainbow kite that required 20 people to pull. If there is enough wind (in the right direction), you are welcome to join us to fly it.

Snacks and water will be served. A number of free kites will be awarded to couples with proven wedding anniversary of over 15 years. Activities include live music performed by by Rakalam Bob Moses & Alexei Tsiganov, kung fu, laughing exercise, kite demonstration and more.

[Pocatello] The VFW hosts their annual Come Fly a Kite With a Veteran, starting with their family kitebuilding workshop at the Memorial Building on Sept 25th and followed by flies for prizes during the Idaho Kite Festival 2009, Oct 1-3, noon to 5 pm wind permitting. Flies will be at the church park (Hawthorne Road at James) beside Portneuf District Library, location of several other kitemaking workshops.
[Coupeville] 2-day kite festival with AKA-sanctioned sportkite competition. Kids' kitemaking, sportkite lessons, single-line activities, raffle tent, teddy-bear drop, indoor competition. Held on 4 grassy acres next to Puget Sound, this festival is very popular among Northwest kiters and the public. Generally light winds.
