[Long Beach] In researching Baden-Powell’s kite making ventures, Rob Pratt came across plans for one called the manlifter. Its silhouette looks like part Rokkaku and part Tuxedo Tales. It provides a wonderful surface for kite art. There will be several options for taking this class which haven't quite been defined. Watch for more details in kite club newsletters, handouts, museum web page, etc. It will be a winner.

[Roseville] Welcome to the 9th Annual Roseville Kite Festival. Planned are Sport Kite Demos, The Magical Musical Mystery Tour, Mass Ascension and Just The old Idea of a Family Day in the park.
         
[Denver] KD Kanopy is proud to announce the first annual Kite For Kids event. In celebration of National Kite Month, this day long event will take place outside the south enc of INVESCO Field at Mile High on the Sports Legends Mall and will benefit "Friends of Kids in Crisis". The event will include kite-flying, stunt flying demos, vendors, local businesses, inflatable games, activities, and special guest appearances. [Monchegorsk] Within the framework of the project to be carried out some races in classes: «Winter kiting - the SUPERMARATHON=100km» «Winter kiting - HIGH-SPEED RACE» «Winter kiting - FREESTYLE. Truly, a festival of the wind and a supermarathon with kites.
       
[Wigram] A huge number of activities is planned with a kite festival to be held at the airfield. This has been a fantastic site for kite festials until recently when changes to ownership mean this will be the last opportunity to fly kites here.
       
[Lahoma] 10th Annual with roughly 2000 spectators in attendance last year. One of the largest kite festivals in Oklahoma. Activites include workshops,silent auction on site, giveaways, friendly kite competitions, venders, clowns. We have all this fun raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation

[NEWPORT] KITEMANIA is a retreat for kitelfiers. We run clinics in sport kite, fighter kite, kitemaking, sewing machine, indoor flying, manufacturers clinic, mini kite making, etc. We have a whole beach, a host hotel with a field on site, and and indoor venue in a school gymnasium that overlooks the beach. Gift of Wings will be on-site selling kites to those who wish to purchase kites or bring your own kites to fly. The kite festival will be held on and around the runway at Pioneer Airport right next to the EAA Airventure Museum. The festival is free to the public and we encourage everyone to make a day of it and fly your kites and visit the EAA museum. Food will also be served. [Ocean City] Three days of fun in kite famous Ocean City, MD... the Maryland International Kite Expo features flyers from local kite clubs, special guest flyers, a kitemaker’s competition and kid’s kitemaking activities. On Friday, a school program puts students from local schools through a variety of local fun kiting activities. The Mid Atlantic Stunt Kite Championships is the largest sport kite competition in the AKA Southeast region. The event is supported by auction dontations - the auction to be held back in the big room at Embers for the annual seafood festival and awards ceremony.
         
[Bourbonnais] The plans are in the works for this exciting two day event. Coming back to the Perry Farm Kite Festival will be THE CHICAGO FIRE KITE TEAM, GUILDWORKS, THE WINDJAMMERS, KITEMAN PRODUCTIONS, plus many professional kiters ready to compete, demonstrate, teach and perform. The weekend will be full of Night Fly Workshops, activities, concessions, kite vendors, and other events.
         
[Evansville] Sled kite building workshops at two different locations on Saturday with flying in the evening and flying at Angel Mounds Park on Sunday. Sled kites for kids will be available Sunday for a small fee.
         
[Georgetown] The Georgetown International Kite and Culture Festival will be held at the Cardome Center located 15 miles north of Lexington and 70 miles south of Cincinnati. It will focus on non-competitive kiting, kitemaking, and the ever popular kite battle performed by the members of the Tahara Kite Preservation Society of Tahara-cho, Japan. Lots of other activities for kitefliers of all ages.

[White Rock] The largest kite event in Western Canada located 5 minutes north of the USA/Canada border at I-5. The beach is a tidal beach with 8 good hours of sand, sun, fun and large crowds. Encouraged and sponsored by the local community, this event is a great time where everyone is welcome.
         
[Chipley] The Washington County Balloon Festival coordinators have asked us to come and do some kite demos for them. Show off some kites and pass out some information.
         
[Muncie] Ansel Toney was a kiteflier, kitemaker and great man who was officially recognized by the State of Indiana as "Kiteman of Indiana" and has been an inspiration to kite enthusiasts from all over the country. The Hoosier Kitefliers Society is honoring his memory and family name by hosting a two-day kite festival at the Academy of Model Aeronautics in Muncie, Indiana on May 3rd and 4th, 2003. The festivities will include: -Kite making workshops! Children get to "make and take" the kites they build. Kids get a real sense of satisfaction when they fly the kite that they made themselves, and is evident by the smiles on their faces. -A "Grand Ascension" of kites made by Ansel. -Sport Kite competitions The grounds of the AMA are kept in pristine condition by full time staff and are a pure pleasure to fly kites on. Come join us for two days of stress-free fun!

[Ocean Shores] First sport kite competition of the season. Planned as a one day event. About 20-50 fliers will attend, 2-3 teams, and 2-5 sets of pairs. This is a NWSKL event, so all fliers should show up at 9.00 to help set up and stay to take down.
         
[Grinnell] Clinic on kite-making for children - Sport kite competition - largest and smallest kite competition - Indoor kite flying - Night flying with lights - Kite vendors - Evening banquet, etc. Last year’s event drew approximately 850 participants and spectators.
KF 2003 (NY)
[Rochester] Kite Flight 2003, an annual event of expert kite flying demonstrations, public kite flying and family entertainment, soars in again to Ontario Beach Park, 10 am-4 pm, Sun., May 4. Event will be held at the Robach Community Center and on the beach. Participants will enjoy a colorful sky full of kites of assorted construction, as expert kite flyers give a kite flying demonstration, and other amateur kite-flyers try their skills in the sky. The Murray (IN)
[Valparaiso/Chesterton] The 6th annual CMMKF, or "The Murray" has become an annual regional event drawing kite flyers from all over the midwest. The emphasis has always been to bring the enjoyment of kite flying to as many new folks as possible. The focus continues to be putting kites into many hands. Each year new and returning kite flyers stop in to show off their newest kites, tune-up for other events and competitions, come out to help with the "kids-n-kites" areas, or just to enjoy kites in the air. Sunset Hill Farm County Park is easy to get to, just off either I-94, I-80/90, US Rt 30. It is part of "Dunes Country" an easy bike ride from the Indiana Dunes Recreation Areas, Valparaiso University, and other attractions. 50 miles east of downtown Chicago. Food and kite venders will be on site, as well as the Porter County Parks Naturalist staff to assist with park tours and interpretive services.
[Langhorne, PA 19047] A FREE event for the entire family; kite flying exhibitions, educational, children’s workshop, gummy bear drops, petting zoo, hayrides, sand art, boat rentals and much more. The annual event amazes the 1500+ spectators each year with sport kite demos, a running of the Bols, and a Rokkaku battle. The event is followed by the NYKE annual banquet and auctions, an event not to be missed.
